Engineering Manager, Made Cascade LLC
Description:
Primary manager for design and manufacturing projects at Made Cascade, from initial planning and resource allocation, to design/manufacturing phases, through project completion. Direct manager of engineering team, assigning projects and subtasks. Manage timelines internally with design team, as well as externally with clients. Delegate tasks to engineering team and provide design guidance and feedback as projects progress. Interface with clients to establish and define project requirements and deadlines; develop and track changes in scope/timeline. Participate directly in design/prototyping work as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Work with client to identify project scope and deadlines
- Delegate project ownership, responsibilities and subtasks to members of engineering team
- Determine basic strategy and planning for executing projects (selecting optimal manufacturing methods, vendors, order of operations, etc.)
- Provide oversight and guidance to engineering team on best practices for specific project elements/parts, as well as design philosophy as a whole
- Organize and lead design/update meetings, both internally and externally with client
- Conduct work checking and quality assurance of engineering team’s work, using standard design and engineering methods, best practices for manufacturing, proper GD&T principles, etc.
- Review and approve manufacturing drawings
- Build and implement processes to improve workflow/efficiency and to remove pain points
- Develop and grow the engineering team to according to company needs
- Assist in hiring additional team members
- Participate in estimating and bidding projects with company principals as required
- Conduct individual CAD design and prototyping/manufacturing work as required
- Employ shop tools and machinery to manufacture and prototype components as required
- Manage multiple jobs concurrently, including jobs of various size/scope/duration
- Participate in periodic team efforts to clean and maintain shop and office spaces; clean up after any individual project or task has been carried out
- Receive additional duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, or engineering-related field or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of Solidworks with the ability to create and manipulate parts/assemblies/drawings
- Confidence within a shop setting and the ability to use hand and power tools as necessary, as well as to receive training for specific machinery and larger tools
- Desire to learn and improve one’s knowledge around mechanical systems, engineering principles, materials, general manufacturing methods and product development
Compensation:
Compensation for this position is negotiated between Made Cascade and the prospective party, and is determined prior to the completion of the hiring process.
